Terms, honestly

The short agreement between you and Kintsu. We tell you what's nearby; you check the details before you go.

Last updated September 25, 2026

Kintsu is operated by Omniio Inc.

Kintsu is free, and we stay off the transaction — no payments, no ticketing, no fulfillment. We curate listings carefully, but plans change, so confirm with the organizer before you head out.

1. Agreeing to these terms

By using kintsu.city, joining as a member, or subscribing to the newsletter, you agree to these Terms and Conditions and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

You need to be at least 13 years old to use Kintsu, and old enough in your jurisdiction to agree to these terms.

2. What Kintsu is — and isn't

Kintsu is an editorial discovery platform: a map, a set of curated listings, and a newsletter covering local events, makers, and places in the Bay Area. The consumer experience is free.

We are deliberately not a marketplace or a ticketing service. We do not process payments, host checkout, take a cut of sales, run in-app messaging, or handle delivery or fulfillment. When you decide to attend an event or buy something from a business you found here, that relationship is entirely between you and them.

3. Listings are a starting point, not a guarantee

Our listings are assembled from public announcements and business directories, interpreted with the help of automated tools, and reviewed by a curator before publication. We work hard to get them right, but we cannot guarantee that a date, time, address, price, or description is accurate or current.

Events get moved, sold out, rained off, and cancelled. Always confirm the details with the organizer or venue — usually through the original post we link to — before you travel. Kintsu is not responsible for a wasted trip, a cancelled event, or an experience that did not match its listing.

4. Membership and phone verification

Membership is optional — the map, the listings, and the guides are all free to browse without an account. If you do become a member, we use your phone number for one thing: to verify that the number is yours and to sign you in. We text you a one-time code each time you do that, and your mobile carrier's message and data rates may apply.

Those verification codes are the only texts Kintsusends. We do not send promotional or event notification texts, and we will not use your phone number to advertise to you. Treat your code like a password — it is single-use, it expires, and we will never ask you to share it with anyone, including someone claiming to be us.

You will receive one verification code each time you sign in. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or email hello@kintsu.city. Reply STOP to opt out at any time. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

5. Newsletter

The newsletter is free, and every issue includes a one-click unsubscribe link. We will not use your email address to send you third-party advertising.

6. How you may use the platform

Please use Kintsu the way a good neighbor would. Do not:

  • Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download our listings, or attempt to reconstruct our database.
  • Interfere with the site's operation, probe its security, or try to reach our admin tools without authorization.
  • Submit listings that are false, misleading, spam, or that you do not have the right to share.
  • Post or submit anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, or that infringes someone else's rights.
  • Use the platform to harvest contact details or to send unsolicited marketing.

We may remove content or block access if these terms are broken.

7. Content you submit

If you submit an event, photo, or description, you confirm that you have the right to share it and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights. You keep ownership of what you submit, and you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, adapt, and distribute it on Kintsu and in our newsletter.

Submissions are reviewed before publication, and we may edit them for clarity, length, or house style, or decline them entirely.

8. Merchant listings and certification

Some businesses on Kintsu carry a certification mark indicating that we consider them independent and locally rooted. That mark reflects our editorial judgment about the character of a business. It is not a warranty about product quality, safety, licensing, or conduct, and it is not a recommendation that you transact with them. Use your own judgment.

Appearing on Kintsu does not mean a business is our partner, agent, or affiliate.

9. Intellectual property

The Kintsu name, logo, written editorial content, and the design of the platform belong to us, and you may not reuse them commercially without our permission. You are welcome to link to us and to share individual listings.

Event flyers, business photos, and social media posts shown on the platform remain the property of the people who created them. If you own such material and want it taken down, email hello@kintsu.city and we will remove it promptly.

10. Third-party services and links

The platform links to and embeds third-party content — social media posts, maps, venue websites, and ticketing pages. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, their availability, or their terms. Following a link means you are subject to that provider's terms and privacy policy.

11. Provided as is

Kintsuis provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its content is complete or accurate.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kintsu and the people who run it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising from your use of the platform or your reliance on any listing.

Because the platform is free to use, our total liability to you for any claim relating to it is limited to one hundred US dollars ($100). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

13. Changes and ending access

We are actively building Kintsu, so features will change, launch, and sometimes disappear. We may update these terms; the date at the top of this page shows when we last did, and continuing to use the platform after a change means you accept it.

You can stop using Kintsu whenever you like by unsubscribing from the newsletter and asking us to delete your account. We may suspend or end access to the platform, or withdraw content, at our discretion.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco, California, and you and we consent to that venue.

15. Contact us

Questions about these terms, takedown requests, or corrections: hello@kintsu.city. See also our Privacy Policy.
